We're pleased to offer you five new patterns! Summer Night by Galina Fedtchenko is knit in Pima Tencel(R) from Cascade and only takes seven skeins for a M/L, a cost of $35.

Summer Flair Hat by Susan Shildmeyer is crocheted with Raffinesse at a yarn cost of $13.80. In addition to the flattering broad- brimmed summer hat the pattern includes a baseball cap and cap without brim.

JoEllyn Wheeler designed the Wrist and Forearm Cosies using Fixation from Cascade. The slip stitch pattern uses two balls of this wonderful cotton/elastic yarn for a cost just under $10.

Maya, an heirloom children's cardigan and hat set by Lisa Louie is done in a lace pattern Sierra or Sierra Quatro from Cascade. This will knit up for about $32.

For a quick project to add some color to a tunic or summer dress, try Cher by Dawn Leeseman. This tie belt flatters any outfit and can use some of the fun new yarns, like Suede and Safari.

The last round of spring classes are starting up...and full. Look for a mailer soon regarding the summer schedule, which will include a week off for Susan in late July or early August.

Mark your calendars for October 22 and 23. We're pleased to offer two days of workshops in the style of the Y2Knit Knitting Getaway Weekends - come for some or attend them all. Jill Wolcott, Creative Director for Y2Knit, is in town from San Francisco for this event with workshops you won't want to miss. Expect to learn, have fun, be inspired and find new ways to enhance your knitting practice.

Friday workshops will help you with new ideas for projects. Consider Slip Stitches for a new technique that can add versatility to your knitting and a way to add texture. Use That Yarn is a great opportunity to get advice on what to do with yarn in your stash or a pattern you've not been able to match to yarn. And Ball to Shawl provides you with everything you'll need to create fabulous shawls from novelty yarns- for yourself or for gifts.

Saturday is about knitting for fit and flatter. Make sure that your time investment in knitting pays off with well fitting garments. Start by learning what type of sweater will look best on you in What to Knit. The Knit to Fit workshop teaches you how to measure and calculate for the best fit. Then learn the Knit to Fit Techniques that can make your handknits fit correctly.

This event will be in Funkstown at the Town Hall. Stay tuned for details. Individual two-hour workshops are $25, $70 for the entire day (three workshops), or $130 for both days (six workshops).

Special Event!! During the What to Knit workshop, we will be drawing names of three participants for a Knit to Fit Style Analysis, modeled after "What Not to Wear." The lucky winners will receive advice and analysis of best styles for their body type, including:

    bulletNecklines
    bulletSleeve lengths
    bulletSweater lengths
    bulletYarn types
    bulletDesign lines and details

What a fabulous time everyone had at Kirkridge, our retreat location between NYC and Philadelphia. The weather was perfect, the view from the lodge astounding, and the Slip Stitch classes by Jill were excellent. Lots of learning for everyone and much inspiration! We look forward to the next Knitting Getaway Weekend in October at Four Springs, just north of Napa Valley.

The Knitting Getaway Experience at Heart of the Village Inn in Shelburne, VT promises to be another wonderful Event. Jill is working on workshops for Embellishments...you know you'll have fun as well as exercising your creativity and learning!
