  • Our Knitting Getaway Weekend at Rising Phoenix in Maryland was wonderful despite starting under torrents of rain. This made us more appreciative when we saw the sun late Saturday, but also was perfect weather for knitting, massage, great meals and wine. Color and Slip Stitches are such creativity boosters that we both came away jazzed to start projects in color combinations discovered over the weekend.

If you're planning on registering for the May 21-23 Knitting Getaway Weekend at Kirkridge, let us know by May 1 so we can save you a space. You'll be glad you did!

    New Patterns
Last month we released two new patterns, both by Dawn Leeseman.

For a trendy layered look, knit up Tuxedo Vest. Seed stitch enhances the visual interest of the solid merino yarn used for the back and showcases the bursts of color in the coordinating yarn of the fronts. An applied I-cord completes the vest with a smooth finished edge.

Shimmering metallic yarn sits like jewels inside smooth slipped stitches. The Jewel- Z shell is quite elegant, but it is very easy to wear. If sparkle isn't what you want, you can create equally interesting jewels using handpainted yarn or contrasting colors.

We have other Spring/Summer designs "in the hopper" from Dawn Leeseman, Susan Shildmeyer and Galina Fedchenko. Hopefully the weather will cooperate soon; in the meantime, the yarns and colors for Spring/Summer 2004 are fabulous.
