Designer Connections |

Y2Knit offers patterns in four categories: women, children, socks and
portable projects.
Judy Sumner of Knox Sox has designed two socks for Y2Knit: Deckled
Socks and Garter Ivy Socks. If you have knit a pair of socks from any of
the leading knitting magazines, you are probably familiar with Judy's
wonderful, unique socks.
Another innovative designer, Annie Modesitt of Modeknits has designed
the Triangle Top for Y2Knit with Sand, a 100% textured cotton by Classic
Elite.
If you are designing, consider submitting designs to Y2Knit.

Knitting Tips |
 |
|
Many patterns indicate that the knitter should "graft" the toe or other
closure. Here's instructions for a neat graft that finishes any garment.
Set up: Thread tapestry ndl with yarn. Orient the sts so the
tops of the sts on each are butting each other. Come up from underneath
into middle of st adjacent to yarn tail (top sts). Bring ndl to the
right and come up from underneath into the middle of 1st st on ndl
opposite the yarn tail (bottom sts).
Graft: *Go down into middle of opposite st (top sts) and up
into adjacent st (top sts). Go down into 1st st on bottom sts, coming up
in adjacent st of bottom sts. Slide the 1st st on each ndl off. Rep from
* across sts, ending when all sts are grafted. Work in end.

Quick Tip |
 |
|
Do you have problems with those slinky novelty yarns slipping off the
ball into a mass of tangles?
Put a rubber band around the ball, releasing a few yards at a time.
The rubber band helps avoid messes and the time saved can be used to
knit!

Nurturing Notes |
 |
|
Getting away for a few days, coupled with activities geared at
relaxation and creativity, can be a marvelous diversion from our
stressful lives. Y2Knit Events always massage with massage therapists, a
wonderful way to nurture our bodies and souls.
Many times people don't know how much stress they're carrying until
they have a massage; then they're able to feel it and let go of it. As
the massage therapist stretches and loosens muscles and connective
tissues, stress and muscular tension are released.
Other benefits of massage include improved circulation, relief of
aches and muscle stiffness, improved muscle tone, improved flexibility
in muscles and joints, enhanced immune system and improved digestion and
elimination.
