The easy, breezy days of summer are here and we hope you are
all still knitting! Consider quick and light projects, like
bags, scarves and socks. This is a great time to try the
wonderful plant fibers: cotton,
soy,
linen, and
bamboo.
July is Pass Knit On month at Y2Knit with three sessions
of this workshop for knitting teachers. The energy is
incredible when a group of knitters get together to learn
and share. Let us know if you're interested in this one day
workshop so we can schedule appropriately (time and place)
for 2005.
Our feature pattern this month is one you need to have!
Check out the
Smart Deco bag and you'll see why. Y2Knit has put
together a
kit with the pattern, three balls of Deco Ribbon, and
purse handles for $29.95. It's a deal!

Upcoming Knitting Getaway Events |
 |
|
October is the perfect time for a Knitting Getaway
Weekend. Join us in California October 1-3 (just north
of Napa Valley in Lake County). These "all-
about-slip-stitches" weekends include workshops and a
workbook of technique samplers in addition to ongoing
assistance throughout the weekend. Expect to be inspired
by color and texture. You'll be amazed how easy it is to
achieve complex looking results with slip stitches.
If you want more than a weekend, join us at
Heart of the Village Inn in Shelburne, Vermont
October 27-31 (the leaves will be our inspiration!). The
topic is Embellishments, with workshops including:
Buttons, Bands and Buttonholes, Crochet, and I-cord,
Bows and Florals, Special Cast Ons and Bind Offs, Glitz,
Glitter and Beads, Button Making, and Button Bracelets.
We have a few spaces left, but they won't last long.

We're Knitting in Funkstown |
 |
|
Mark your calendars for October 22 and 23. We're
pleased to offer two days of workshops in the style of
the Y2Knit Knitting Getaway Weekends - come for some or
attend them all. Jill Wolcott, Creative Director for
Y2Knit, is in town from San Francisco for this event
with workshops you won't want to miss. Expect to learn,
have fun, be inspired and find new ways to enhance your
knitting practice.
Friday workshops will help you with new ideas for
projects. Consider Slip Stitches for a new
technique that can add versatility to your knitting and
a way to add texture. Use That Yarn is a great
opportunity to get advice on what to do with yarn in
your stash or a pattern you've not been able to match to
yarn. And Ball to Shawl provides you with
everything you'll need to create fabulous shawls from
novelty yarns- for yourself or for gifts.
Saturday is about knitting to fit and flatter. Make
sure that your time investment in knitting pays off with
well fitting garments. Start by learning what type of
sweater will look best on you in What to Knit.
The Knit to Fit workshop teaches you how to
measure and calculate for the best fit. Then learn the
Knit to Fit Techniques that can make your
handknits fit correctly.
This event will be in Funkstown at the Town Hall.
Individual two-hour workshops are $25, $70 for the
entire day (three workshops), or $130 for both days (six
workshops). You can pick up a flyer and registration
form in the shop or we'll mail you one if you call or
email. 301.766.4543 or info@y2knit.net
